This track was recorded during spring/summer of 2018 when my synth system was installed in the ALCATOR-C-MOD Experimental Hall at MIT as part of the 50'th Anniversary celebration of MIT's Center For Advanced Visual Studies (CAVS). The ALCATOR was MIT's most recent plasma fusion research tokamak - after attaining the highest plasma pressure recorded in a reactor, it was decommissioned, making the hall available for my live exhibition (the new one, SPARC, will be starting construction shortly). This autonomous patch was the largest I've ever done - featuring many hundreds of cables and modules, it ran for over 3 months, streaming openly over the internet. I progressively honed the patch during this time. All recordings are live off the synth, although to capture some of the tremendous variety in the patch, I cross-faded excerpts that were recorded at different times. It frequently features actual data from ALCATOR, used both as direct audio samples and as control voltage waveforms.
