about

This was another track that came from the winter 1973/74 session at WMFO. Here I was exploring a tape loop universe - I'd been playing with tape loops ever since grammar school, and had evolved techniques to make these little 'mechanical' sounding entities from them (this grew out of the experiments I made with tape loops in the following track). I remember making some couple dozen or so loops, and crossfaded across them in this piece, sounding a bit like a tour across a huge mechanical construct or big piece of kinetic art. There's a meandering echoed bass bed throughout coming from the organ or signal generator, which I had thought helped to ground things here. Influences may perhaps have been Pink Floyd's 'Ummagumma' experiments - I loved that album then, and still do.
