about

I did this piece in the summer of 1989. It was the last 'composed' keyboard piece that I made, I believe, for 25 years. I did it in the basement studio of my Medford Condo using Bill Southworth's MIDI Paint sequencer, and in addition to basic MIDI synths like a K2000 and Ensoniq Mirage (featuring mainly my own samples), I had adapted the MIDI Interface that I was building for Lyle Mays (paradiso.media.mit.edu/4voice.html) to control my modular system at a basic level so I could use it with the sequencer. I was thinking about Prince's Batman theme and the music of Test Department around that time - this is what came out.
