I made this track in July of 1976, when I hauled my newly-finished modular into the production studio of WMFO, the Tufts University radio station where I was very active at the time. I reserved the studio for a week or two to try and compose some new intros for the station's news program, plus really stretch things out and see what I could do in an extended composition. This was the result of the latter. My synth had two sequencers (one of which could be made to be pseudo-random) - I was really discovering how to use them in this piece.

I was hugely influenced by Klaus Schulze and Tangerine Dream at the time, and was trying to reach into that zone here, as well as incorporate the old electroacoustic tape music composers that I'd hear on the Turnabout and Folkways samplers then, with perhaps a bit of 'Rainbow' era Terry Riley. My keyboard playing was just starting to develop. Everything was recorded using the station's stereo Revox machines together with my Sony TC-200 using sound-on-sound and simple track-bouncing techniques.
